I have played like every Civ game their is. the original i got when it first came out. i even played the not-so-well-known Colinization. I was a little dissapointed By Civ: Call To Power. Alpha Centaui is real cool, but sorta lim ted on variation. I have to say that the Best is Civ II gold edition. And now, with this site, i have a connection to all these cool scenerios. Hopefully Civ III will be out be years end (hopefully). |

This is not realistic; -And please, promise never to turn the game into a real time stategy game! I'm sure Civ 3 will be a great game. Thanks. |

I'm a very big civ fan with my own ideas and possible improvements for the game. * You never own enough military units. In WWI for example in real life there were hundreds of divisions of infantry. * Some units are crap and get outmoded to quickly. Riflemen for example cost 40 to construct and mechanized infantry cost 50 and yet are miles better. I believe that the game would work better if units like riflemen could be built in multipl s so there reduced effectiveness would be made up for by there numbers. * In modern day warfare a charge from a well equiped tank division would cripple any defense yet against city walls (which they would crush or fire over any how) they can never win against units such as mechanized infantry, another tank, m rines and alpine troops. * Fighters both stealth and convential can never die if you use them correctly as they never remain in the air during an opponents turn. Also thanks to this you can lose 6 or 7 prime units a turn. This could be solved by giving fighters 2 move per turn, which would retain there unique ability to defeat other air units but power them down to a level that you could win them at. * On the game if ten units of veteran riflemen attack 1 unit of fortified veteran mechinized infantry inside a city with city walls then usually all ten riflemen would be defeated whereas really the one unit would be overun. My only suggestion o this is some form of group attack or bonus if over units are in the same square. * The computer knows exactly which cities have and haven't got SDI defences which gives them a big advantage in that they can nuke an undefended city without threat of wasting the missile. * A city with city walls never loses populaion points but in WWII Dresden was completely destroyed as many other cities were damaged or destroyed which in my opinion adds to the realism of the game and makes war more costly to both sides. * Whenever you enter an opponents land he orders you to withdraw your troops. This does not start dialogue yet can start war. If the reverse happens where an opponent enters your land he can just ignore your requests to send an emissary and ca ry on moving in your land. This could be improved if when you clicked on another players name instead of just being offered to send emissary or check your spy reports, you could at that stage ask him to withdraw his troops. Gee, full multiplayer support, including TCP/IP, LAN, and hotseat, advanced diplomacy screens for human to human contact, the ability to create your own scenarios and play them against six other people, total ompatibility with every machine (unlike the windows hacked multiplayer version) and all of that for the 200,000 Mac Civ2 owners. Man, the G3 and Civ2 Gold makes you wonder what you're doing with a Pentium turtle instead of conquering six other people over the fastest home PC on the planet. |
